In this update video, I’m sharing a real-world reliability issue I’m experiencing with the Rock Island Armory 5.0E handgun. This is not a full review—it’s a focused reliability update meant to inform current owners and anyone considering the 5.0E.
During normal use, one of the grip screws backed out, which caused an unexpected and serious malfunction: the handgun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled. In order to get the gun to fire, the trigger must be pulled while physically shaking the handgun—essentially creating a “shake-awake” situation that should never occur on a defensive firearm.
In this video, I explain exactly what’s happening, how the issue presents itself, and why this matters from a safety and reliability standpoint. Transparency is important, and this update is part of documenting long-term ownership, real use, and real issues.
If you own a Rock Island Armory 5.0E or are thinking about buying one, this is a video you should watch before making that decision.
