My review of the EOTECH EFLX pistol RDS, I went into this review with low expectations as many folks have reported questionable durability on this Eotech red dot. For me, I will say so far so good and continue testing. The EXFL glass is very clear, red dot is crisp, top load battery compartment, two brightness settings and standard 1 moa adjustments.
Two of the best micro compact pistols for EDC, the Sig Sauer P365 vs the Shadow Systems CR-920. I often carry one of these micro compact handguns and they both have a few pros and cons. The Sig has been out longer so there is better aftermarket support especially with the removable FCU. I prefer the optic system, serrations, and ascetics of the Shadow Systems CR-920.
My review of the Streamlight Protac 2.0 rifle light, lumen monster. This rifle light from Streamlight has a built in rechargeable battery that you can charge without taking the battery out of the light, momentary tape switch, 2,000 lumens, 2.5 hour run time and a quick detach mount,
Staccato XC vs. Nighthawk Custom Sand Hawk: Which One Fits You Best?
In the world of high-end 9mm pistols, the Staccato XC and the Nighthawk Custom Sand Hawk occupy very premium positions. Both deliver outstanding build quality, top-tier components, and excellent shooting performance. But they have meaningful differences in design, feel, and purpose. Here’s a breakdown to help you decide which one might be right for your needs.
Key Specifications Comparison
Feature
Staccato XC
Nighthawk Custom Sand Hawk
Caliber & Capacity
9×19 mm, 17+1 or 20+1 rounds depending on magazine.
9mm, 17+1 for the double-stack Sand Hawk.
Barrel & Compensator
5.0″ “island comp” barrel with integrated compensator.
Built under Nighthawk’s “One Gun, One Gunsmith” philosophy. Double stack government frame, hand-fit slide and frame, Cerakote finish, wide serrations, dehorned edges, high-grade sights.
Performance & Feel
Recoil Management: Both guns use integrated compensators and added mass up front (dust cover in Sand Hawk, full-frame and compensator in XC) to help tame muzzle rise. Shooters report that the XC feels soft and fast, largely due to its compensator and precise trigger. The Sand Hawk also shares that reputation — the combination of its match barrel, compensator, and weight makes follow-up shots smoother.
Trigger Feel: The XC has a lighter, sharper trigger out of the box, which tends to favor competition or precision use. The Sand Hawk’s slightly heavier trigger may provide more safety buffer, less risk of accidental trigger movement, especially under stress or in carry scenarios.
Ergonomics & Handling: The grip width is similar though Sand Hawk is a bit wider in some dimensions. Both have strong sights, but the Sand Hawk offers premium front-sight options (14k gold bead, etc.) and very fine detail in fit and finish, like dehorned edges and grip safety.
Who Each Gun Is Best For
Choose the Staccato XC if you want a pistol that maximizes speed, capacity, and has a very light trigger pull. It’s ideal for competition shooters, those who like fast follow-up shots, or someone who wants high performance right out of the box with minimal tweaks.
Choose the Nighthawk Sand Hawk if you value premium craftsmanship, attention to detail, and want a more refined feel — maybe for show, collection, or precision shooting plus tactical/defensive use. It’s also a great option for someone who wants to carry or use a pistol that’s highly customizable, with high-end aesthetic touches and top sights.
Final Thoughts
Both the Staccato XC and Nighthawk Sand Hawk are outstanding pistols in the high-end 9mm double-stack field. If forced to pick, the decision comes down to: light, crisp performance vs. premium craftsmanship and feel. For raw speed and capacity, XC wins. For elegance, detail, and a build you can be proud of handling, the Sand Hawk shines.
If you want, I can tailor the comparison for things like duty carry, competition, or concealed carry, so you can see which would serve your actual use case better.
What I consider the best gun wall mount system, Hold Up Displays HD90. This gun wall is high quality, easy to install, holds 6 rifles, 6+ pistols, plate carrier, and lots of accessories. The key is to find the studs in the wall to support the weight of the gun wall.
My review of the Shadow Systems DR920 Foundation Series. The foundation series is Shadow Systems entry level line, these pistol don’t have night sights, fluted barrels, of the fancy zipper case. They do retain the Shadow Systems quality, steel sights, removable backstraps, great optic system and solid grip texture.
The Cloud Rein 3.0 review AKA the candela monstah! Cloud Defensive went up to 100,000 candela on their new Rein 3.0. With 1,250 lumens this light has a great balance of hot spot to see at distance with a good flood to see things closer up. The Rein 3.0 carried over the excellent tail cap with the clocking feature to minimize exposed wires and a second tail cap button. Same battery jack and two button tape switch makes this my favorite weapon mounted light currently available. If I could change one that would be a single button tape to fit better on rifles with shorter handguards.
The nicest gun I’ve ever shot…the Nighthawk Custom Sand Hawk. This double stack 2011 / 1911 holds 17 rounds of 9mm, great trigger, solid optic system, perfect ascetics, and a huge port comp. The comp kills nearly all of the felt recoil which result in a soft and flat shooting handgun. These are not inexpensive handguns but they are one of nicest and smoothest 2011 money can buy.
The Nighthawk Custom Sand Hawk stands as a benchmark in the world of high-end 1911 pistols. Designed for shooters who demand precision, control, and premium build quality, the Sand Hawk blends traditional craftsmanship with modern innovations. Whether you’re a competition shooter, collector, or firearms enthusiast, this pistol offers features that elevate its performance.

With top-tier materials, expert hand fitting, a potent compensator, and a finish that holds its own under real-world use, the Sand Hawk isn’t just another premium pistol—it’s a reference piece.
A very interesting weapon light, the HRT AWLS. Available in two different sizes, 18350 and 18650 with both being dual fuel. Both sizes also put out an amazing 1,700 lumens and 90,000 candela, one of the better rifle light beams I’ve seen. The most unique feature is the Valhalla Tactical ODA (omni-directional activation) aka the joystick. This joystick allows you to easily activate momentary light with a push in any direction or constant on with a press in.
